A confused careers officer at school saw Chris’s career path take an unexpected turn. Instead of a career in electronics – based on his love of building electric guitars and amps – he was sent for an interview as an electrical apprentice.

The only one of 24 to be offered one, he accepted.

“I am really glad I did – I loved learning about how things worked and how to fix complex problems – it’s just how my brain works. I love the challenge.”

This coupled with Chris’s straight-up approach to work saw him rise to senior project manager supervising teams of up to 40 staff working for the like of Lucas Aerospace. In Australia he held similar positions working for Downer Edi & Ampcontrol.
